APPG on the UN Global Goals for Sustainable Development
I am Co-Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on the United Nations Global Goals for Sustainable Development, a cross-party group of Members of the House of Commons and House of Lords committed to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals in Parliament.
The Global Goals, agreed by world leaders at the United Nations in 2015, set out an ambitious plan to end extreme poverty, reduce inequality, tackle climate change and build a fairer, more sustainable world by 2030. The 17 Goals provide a clear framework for action, from improving access to education and healthcare to protecting our planet and promoting decent work.
As Co-Chair, I work with parliamentarians from across parties to strengthen political leadership on the Goals, hold the UK Government to account for its commitments, and ensure the Sustainable Development Goals are reflected in policy both at home and internationally.
Through the APPG, we bring together MPs, Peers, civil society organisations, businesses and experts to raise awareness of progress, identify gaps and encourage practical action. That includes hosting events and discussions in Parliament, engaging with stakeholders and highlighting the voices of those working to deliver sustainable development on the ground.
