As the Regional Secretary for USDAW, I represent 37,000 members and speak on behalf of every worker across these sectors in Scotland. We hear, every day, about the cost-of-living crisis and I understand the issues that affect them.
I have a proven track record of winning with decades of experience in delivering positive outcomes. From negotiating pay rises across the public and private sector, my advocacy work for young people, as a Housing Benefits Officer and in mental health to delivering legislative change.
As a product of Labour policies and the trade union movement, from social care, housing, education and my career I feel that the accumulation of my life and work experiences make me an authentic voice and therefore an excellent candidate.
To be elected as the candidate would be the honour of my life. It would be my privilege to serve my community and be able to repay the movement for the opportunities that Labour has provided me.
Here in Edinburgh we are lucky to live in the most vibrant, dynamic and beautiful areas of the country. From the festival and culture to the award-winning beaches, it is easy to see why we are a top destination for travellers from all over the world.
I love Leith. It is not only the place where I live, but my home. My community has a unique sense of identity and faces many challenges and issues that I am familiar with and understand. These struggles, collectively or individually, are visible to each of us who live here, and I am committed to working alongside others to find solutions to tackling the problems we face.
