I have already hit the ground running as a Scottish Labour MP for Edinburgh North and Leith. I was delighted to be chosen to put forward a Private Members' Bill just two months after being elected. I decided that I wanted to introduce a bill that would make postal voting easier and franchise more voters. Currently, in Scotland and Wales, you cannot apply for a postal ballot online; however, for reserved elections, you can. I want to solve this anomaly and make it easier for people to apply for absent voting in local and devolved elections. I am pleased that this bill is now in the committee stage and look forward to hopefully progressing to further stages.
